There’s nothing better on a hot day than a splash of cool water.
Whether it’s a standalone facility or part of a larger aquatic center or master plan, Aquatic Design Group has studied and designed hundreds of splash pads, spray grounds, and other wet play areas across the country enjoyed by kids and adults alike.
“Nothing is softer or more flexible than water, yet nothing can resist it.””
Aquatic Design Group provided design, engineering, and construction observation services for the new outdoor splash pad at the Teton County/Jackson Community Recreation Center—part of a $35.3 million expansion aimed at delivering inclusive, year-round recreation for the Jackson Hole community.
Nestled in a region known for its rugged landscapes and active lifestyle, the splash pad was thoughtfully integrated into the expanded facility to support multigenerational play, promote outdoor activity, and complement the center’s broader health and wellness mission. Designed with accessibility, safety, and user engagement in mind, the splash pad enhances warm-weather programming and offers a dynamic, family-friendly water play environment.
Aquatic Design Group collaborated closely with the design team and community stakeholders throughout the project’s planning and execution. Services included system and layout recommendations, specification of materials and features, and oversight during construction to ensure a high-quality, durable installation. The splash pad adds an interactive aquatic component to a facility celebrated for its bold design and community impact and recognized with a 2024 ENR Mountain States Award and was included in the 2025 Athletic Business Facilities of Merit.

Aquatic Design Group provided programming, planning, construction documents and construction observation for a unique aviation-themed splash pad that features more than 20 different water features and over 60 spray heads. The concept was inspired by the National Championship Air Races, held every annually in Reno - The splashpad’s “runway” runs parallel to that of the Reno Stead Airport’s, and divides the facility into a more tame area for small children and a wetter, wilder spot with slides and water cannons. Water jets, flush to the rubberized surface on both sides of the runway, eject columns in a synchronized, escalating pattern to resemble a plane’s takeoff. To achieve the cohesive design, Aquatic Design Group enlisted four manufacturers to supply all the various aviation-themed accessories. This project was awarded the Best of Aquatics: Theming award by Aquatics International in 2015.
