Hospitality & Leisure
Swimming pools have undergone a considerable evolution over the last two decades. In years past almost all new pools were rectilinear and tried to accommodate all users in the same water space. Commonly this resulted in a body of water that wasn't perfect for any group. Over the last twenty or so years there has been a movement within the industry to design separate bodies of water specific to each user group and programmatic function.
Leisure pools are another fast growing segment of the aquatics world. As places such as college campuses, apartment complexes, and housing developments look to differentiate themselves in the ever growing and competitive marketplace resort style pools are popping up more and more frequently.
Typically designed with flowing lines and gentle colors these facilities are meant to be an oasis of tranquility and an escape from rigors of everyday life. Often these facilities will feature benches and ledges in the pool for patrons to lounge (where approved by governing bodies), shallow water areas such as zero-depth entries, and recreation areas for games such as water volleyball and basketball, and hydrotherapy spas where patrons can soak away their stress.
